Hurtling towards happiness

Staff's picture

People of Bristol, you legends! Our appeal for helpers to create a Happy City Zone in the Amphitheatre in time for the Harbour Festival in less than two weeks has met with a stunning response.

Happy City’s plea was for interactive activities to give a feel for the inspirational work going on and we now have legions of experts and enthusiasts lined up to share their visions of sustainability, people power and downright fun.

So we’ve got the people – we now 'just' need to organise them and get on with the fine detail to make sure everything happens more or less as it should, the event really sparkles and we stamp a giant footprint of happiness on our city.

Despite our small army of volunteers who are working incredibly hard to make this event a success we still need people to help us out on the actual weekend of the event that’s Friday 20th, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd.  Friday is a set up day, so we'll need some help with site construction, Saturday and Sunday we'll need people for a whole range of activities from caretaking the street party/play in our 'Pop Up Street', to refereeing the Speakers Corner.

There will be a briefing for everyone who wants to be involved early next week - so e-mail rachel@happycity.org.uk if you'd like to climb aboard the happiness train - it’s heading towards us and there’s no stopping it!
