Our work reduces mental health stigma, increases resilience and helps people to make tangible improvements to their lives. Light Box presents mental health in a whole new light: as an exciting, empowering, social phenomenon, an act of creation, and a continuum on which we’re all placed.

We would have benefitted from knowing that community rojects like ours require years of building, getting better, more refined, that it's an ongoing process to be constantly engaged in. It's never complete, always moving, and we've learnt to love this.

Happy Tracks - Tune in to Happiness

Happy City aims to get as many people as possible thinking, talking and focussing on real and lasting pathways to Happiness.  It's doing this through work with schools, communities, businesses and the public via mediums as varied as art, music, performance, food, faith, nature, exercise, writing and games.

HAPPY TRACKS is an upcoming project with musicians of every style and experience across the city.  We are inviting people to create tracks that get people thinking about happiness...

The Happiness Habit Programme

The skills, habits and actions for a happier, more fulfilling life can be learned.  This 10 week programme offers people the chance to learn how to develop lasting happiness and resilience in their own lives, and in turn, their families, friends, workplaces and communities.  It supports learning across a range of themes, from self-awareness and empowerment, to relationship building, community action and life-long learning & growth.   It makes the tools and habits of a flourishing life, easily accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds and dreams.

Happy City likes to embrace ideas from different cultures, so here we present a short article exploring happiness in Asia. Our ‘man abroad’, Dr Sam Waldron has spent the last 6 months visiting and volunteering in India, Nepal and Bangladesh, and here he shares a few thoughts on why recent research has begun to suggest that subjective wellbeing may be higher in some parts of Asia than Europe.
